The best moments rarely wait for you to take out your phone.
Looki L1 is a lightweight wearable camera that lets you capture everyday life while keeping your hands free. Whether you're walking around town, spending the day with family, or exploring somewhere new, the way you wear your camera can make a big difference in what it captures.
In this guide, you'll learn how to wear Looki L1, position the camera, and get a more natural camera view while you're on the go.
Before You Head Out
Complete this quick check before you start capturing:
- Make sure Looki L1 has enough battery.
- Wipe the lens with a clean, soft cloth.
- Check that the lens faces forward.
- Keep scarves, collars, jacket flaps, and backpack straps clear of the lens.
- Record a short test video and review the framing.
Put on your jacket, scarf, or backpack before choosing the final camera position. Clothing and straps often shift when they are added later, which can change the angle or cover part of the lens. Once you are fully dressed, attach Looki and test the view you will actually use outside.
How to Wear Looki L1
1. Around Your Neck with the Magnetic Lanyard
Attach Looki L1 securely to the included Magnetic Lanyard and place it around your neck. Let it rest naturally against the front of your body with the lens facing forward for a clear, natural point of view.
Keep Looki outside your jacket or scarf so the view remains clear. After putting it on, check that the camera has not turned or tilted. For anyone wondering how to wear a wearable camera for daily life, this is the easiest setup to start with and adjust as needed.
Walk a few steps before checking the view. The lanyard should rest naturally rather than swing under a loose outer layer. If the camera moves too much, reposition your clothing or choose a more stable setup for that activity.
2. Magnetically Attached to Your Clothing
Place Looki L1 on the front of your shirt. Attach it through one thin layer of fabric. Choose a flat, stable area that will not fold or shift as you move.
Make sure collars, lapels, or loose fabric cannot move in front of the lens. If your outfit has several layers, switch to the Go Clip or wear the Magnetic Lanyard outside your clothing.
Do not attach Looki through multiple thick layers. If the magnetic connection does not feel secure, change to another wearing method. Check the Looki L1 User Guide for the latest magnetic-wearing guidance.
Before heading out, gently check that the camera stays in position when you turn your body or move your arms. Then record a short test clip to confirm that the fabric is not causing the lens to tilt.
3. Attached to Your Gear with the Go Clip
Connect Looki L1 to the Go Clip, secure the clip to a backpack strap, bag, hat, jacket, or collar, and adjust the lens until it faces forward.
Check that the clip is fully attached and nearby straps will not cover the camera. Recheck the angle after putting on your backpack because straps can shift as you move. This setup works well as a hands-free POV camera for travel, hiking, and outdoor walks.
Choose a firm section of the strap or garment rather than a loose edge. After adjusting the clip, walk normally and check the footage again. This shows whether the camera remains level during the activity, not only while you are standing still.

Which Wearing Setup Fits Your Day?
Once you understand the three wearing methods, choose the one that fits your clothing and plans.
- Use the Magnetic Lanyard for errands, family days, sightseeing, and simple everyday wear.
- Use direct magnetic attachment with a thin, flat layer when you want a minimal look.
- Use the Go Clip for hiking, thick jackets, hats, backpacks, and travel days when you need to adjust the angle.
- Use the Safety Necklace Case when you prefer pendant-style wearing and want a lightweight protective shell around Looki L1.
If you are unsure, start with the included Magnetic Lanyard. Change to the Go Clip when your clothing or gear makes it difficult to keep the camera facing forward.
How to Get a Better Camera Angle
Your footage should show the people, places, and activity in front of you. If Looki points too high, the view may contain too much sky. If it points too low, it may capture too much ground or clothing.
- Face the lens straight ahead.
- Avoid placing the camera too close to your neck.
- Keep loose clothing away from the lens.
- Test the view after changing outfits or accessories.
- Use the Go Clip's adjustable angle when you need to correct the framing.
A ten-second test video is usually enough to identify an angle problem.
Review the test while walking, not only while standing still. Clothing and backpack straps may shift after you start moving. If the framing changes, reposition the camera or adjust the Go Clip before continuing.
Repeat the test whenever you change clothing, move the camera to another attachment point, or take your backpack off and put it on again. A position that works with one outfit may create a different view with another.
Choose Your Capture Mode
Once Looki is positioned correctly, choose the capture mode that fits the moment.
To start or stop Story Mode, press and hold Button B. The top status light will breathe green. To start or stop regular video recording, press Button A once. The top status light will remain solid green while recording.
Button functions can be customized in the Looki App, so check your current settings if the controls behave differently. Refer to the official User Guide for the latest instructions, and download the Looki App to set up your device and access your content.
Your On-the-Go Checklist
